We offer a range of vaccines for your pets, depending on their lifestyle.
Dog Vaccines
- Rabies – This core vaccine is required by law. Rabies is an infectious, deadly, and incurable disease that can affect any species of mammal, including people. It is spread by the saliva of infected animals.
- Distemper – This core vaccine is recommended for all dogs. It is a combination vaccine for Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza, and Parvo viruses. These viruses can affect a dog’s respiratory, GI tract, and nervous systems. They are easily passed from dog to dog via saliva, blood, urine, or feces.
- Lyme – This vaccine is recommended for all dogs, along with monthly tick prevention. Lyme disease is spread by the black-legged tick (deer tick), and can cause lameness, inflammation, fever, depression, and serious kidney damage.
- Leptospirosis – This vaccine is recommended for all dogs who go outside. Leptospirosis is a bacterial disease that is spread through the urine of infected animals (it is often carried by wildlife such as raccoons and opossums), and is most often contracted when dogs come into contact with contaminated water. It may cause fever, weakness, anemia, and kidney or liver failure in severe cases. It can also be spread to humans though the urine of infected animals.
- Bordetella (Kennel Cough) – This vaccine is recommended for all dogs who will have contact with other dogs (e.g., daycare, grooming, boarding, dog parks). Kennel cough can cause coughing, reverse sneezing, fever, and lethargy. It is easily spread through the air by infected dogs.
- Canine Flu – This vaccine is recommended for dogs who are boarded regularly or who are traveling to areas where canine flu is common. Ask the veterinarian if this vaccine is recommended for your dog.
Cat Vaccines
- Rabies – This core vaccine is required by law. Rabies is an infectious, deadly, and incurable disease that can affect any species of mammal, including people. It is spread by the saliva of infected animals.
- Distemper (Feline Rhinotracheitis / Calici / Panleukopenia) – This core vaccine is recommended for all cats. It is a combination vaccine that protects against several common and easily transmissible viruses, which can cause severe respiratory infections, and severe GI disease. The respiratory disease can be spread through the air by infected cats, and the GI disease can be spread through urine or feces.
- Feline Leukemia – This vaccine is recommended for all cats who go outside. This disease suppresses the immune system, and often causes anemia or lymphoma. It is often deadly and is easily transmissible from cat to cat through saliva or blood.
